Our Spaces
The Main Stage
Our 850 seat Performing Arts Center is the home to many of our daily activities including: morning and afternoon meetings; rehearsals; workshops; and special events. It is also a versatile performance space that allows for flexibility in presentation - from the use of the forty-foot proscenium stage to the construction of an intimate three-quarter or full-round arena on-stage.
The Arena
Our Arena Stage welcomes performers and audiences to experience and enjoy an up-close and personal ‘theater in-the-round’ exchange while enabling our technicians and designers the opportunity to work with our most sophisticated lighting and sound equipment.
The Black Box
Our Black Box Theater is a flexible 70 seat studio space which allows directors, designers, and actors the freedom to transform it into what best fits the needs and style of each play.
The Globe Theater
Our Globe Theater inherits its name from the dozens of flags that hang in the rafters, each of which symbolize and celebrate the hundreds of international students who have studied at Westford Academy. They serve as our daily reminder that theater is a universal language spoken by all, for all.
The Nook
Our Nook Theater is located around the back side of Westford Academy, in a cozy corner of the building’s exterior. Transformed with a set design specific to the world of each play, the Nook takes on a new life every summer.
The Courtyard
Located in the heart of SSPA, our Courtyard Stage is an open air theater that challenges performers to fill a massive space with the language of their bodies and voices while interacting and collaborating with the natural world. The wind will blow. Jets will fly. Birds will hatch (and chirp!) And our students will sing, and harmonize. Bring your own lawn chair!
